On Monday, my sister and I took Francie into the city on the train, which was a thrill on it's own for my little adventurer. Our first stop was Macy's to watch the light show. It happens every hour, on the hour.
Next, we wandered through Dickens Village, also in the Macy's. It is an absolutely adorable animated walk through, telling the story of The Christmas Carol.
Then it was back out into the cold. We made our way over to City Hall to check out the Christmas Village.
The German Christmas Market is situated in Love Park. It's a decent size, with plenty of vendors. There was no shortage of unique gifts and holiday cheer.
We were able to watch the Comcast Holiday Spectacular before heading home. It plays every hour, on the hour, in the lobby of the Comcast Center. Suburban Station is right next to it, so we didn't even have to leave the building to catch the train.
The last time I saw the light show and Dickens Village was with my parents, several years ago. I never would have imagined then that my next visit would be with my own child. My, my, where does the time go?!
Thanks for the memories, Philly.

Looks like so much fun! The 5th picture down is incredible! I would love to be able to spend the holidays in such an interesting and history-filled part of the country.

i live so close and yet have never been to Philly at Christmas, never seen the light show...
ReplyDeleteThis is so neat! One thing I always struggle with is deciding WHEN to visit a place... some places, like PA, have so much to offer during all seasons! I would definitely like to see Philly at Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely worth seeing if you're in the area!
